Discussion:
Filtering signal at engine level

I'm using DSC and Historical Database Logging and I have one signal
that is noisy. Using hardware to filter is not practical in my setup.
I would like to be able to have some filtration on that signal at the
engine level. I mean, I can use filtering vi in my application to
smooth the signal for the front panel graph, but what is saved to the
Citadel database has noise on it. So, when I export these data to
Excel for analysis, the noise is present.

Making the deadband bigger doesn't help because if I have a slow
rising (but noisy) waveform, it will be aquired like a big step.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Michel.

As there is currently no way to add averaging or filtering to the tag
configuration you will have to do this in the application. Then you
could write the filtered data to a memory tag to make them available
in the Citadel database and to export them to Excel.
